Hello all! I just joined the boards!

I'm not sure if you can help me with this but here goes:

Ok, so I was not satisfied with my Windows 7 upgrade on my vista laptop.

So, I bought Windowx XP Pro Software from ecrater.com along with the product key for $20.00 and installed XP over 7.

Setup went well, I have an Acer Extensa 5420 laptop 32bit, and downloaded the necessary drivers from acer's website.

BUT

The only damn drivers that will not download/install properly are my video card and wireless drivers. I have had many techies look at this issue and its been almost impossible to fix. We have gotten so far to conclude that the Video Card is ATI Technologies, and the manufacturer on the Wireless driver is Broadcom.

I downloaded this "unknown device finder" and the only info I was able to retreive on the drivers were this, not sure if its relevant:

Video Card: ATI technologies RS690M radeon X1200 driver

Broadcom: BCM4310 ***(Not sure if this is the Wireless or Ethernet)***

I used "Answers by Acer" technical support, purchased their minimum call time 30 minutes for $59.99. . I explained to them that my laptop originally had Vista, I upgraded to 7, and installed XP over 7.

The operator said it would take 15 minutes. Over the course of 30 minutes, I got disconnected twice and spoke with 3 technicians. None of them were direct and attacked the problem. They were pretty clueless IMO. I told them repeatedly what was going on, but they were just fidgeting and checking things on my desktop with the LogMeIn program.

So, for those of you that have made it this far into the post, what should my next course of action be? Is there something I am doing wrong?

Thanks

***Someone already suggested I download these, but l
Video driver: http://game.amd.com/...p/integrated-xp
Broadcom driver: http://drivers.softp...load-78223.html

But I downloaded them and the drivers were still marked as missing!

Have you tried removing those entries then installing the drivers when it restarts? That Broadcom thing is your wireless adapter.
