I posted this question on the Magix site last week and got no help... Here's the deal:
I have a Sony HD camcorder w/ internal hd that uses the AVCHD format and am attempting to use the Magix Movie Edit Pro 14 Plus for editing my videos. When I select a file I get this error message: "The file format of C:\videos\0098.MTS cannot be opened by MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 14." I know .mts is avchd and I know that the software supports that... SO WTF!?!? This was the only reason I got this software, so I'm not very pleased w/ it at this point... I haven't tried to find a support fone # yet, I just saw the online answers center...

Are you pulling the video straight from the camera? Why not just use some other software and "Capture" the video?

no, these are video files saved on the camera and then transferred over to the computer. Like, filming the band playing, or filming my kids at Christmas... It's just the file you transfer over from the camera and it SHOULD open right up with this program! The camera has some generic software that comes with it that I can use, but it's not nearly as nice as this other.

First phone # didn't work... did more digging and found another. Some THICK ACCENT Brittish dude answers and found that there are extra features you have to activate like an "additional registration" to get it working for those files. So, I had 3 free activations to do and it now works! There was one more activation for Dolby 5.1 surround editing functions, but it costs $10 so I held off for now. It does appear that the HD file is REALLY bogging the system (but it's working), so I may start looking into my overclocking features to see if I gain any headroom.
