While purchasing my dell xps 430, i was offered this dell mini 9 with ubuntu for only 99 bux. Normal price for this is 349. The specs are as follows:
Intel 1.6 atom cpu
512 mb ram
4GB Solid state hard drive
Ubuntu operating system
Not sure about the video.
3 usb ports
1 vga port
Memory card reader
headphone and microphone jacks
First off, this thing is hard to type on when you start using it. The shift, tab and caps locks keys are really small. The performance of this little thing is very impressive without upgrading any of the specs. I have had it on for about an hour and the heat it puts out isn't bad at all. With the solid state hard drive, it is really really quiet, actually i dont even hear anything at all.
The operating system is pretty nice. I could see how some people could get a little confused if they are used to windows but dell did a good job of putting a little task bar on the desktop to give you "quick links".
I dont think this laptop will end up being my main p.c. but I think it would be awesome to take with me on vacation or if i had to travel for work.

I paid $460 for mine (Asus), and come January ill get 120 of that back making the final price $340.
The Eee comes with XP, 160gh HD, 1gb ram, ram and hd are upgradable w/o voiding warranty, they are a bitch to type on especially the Eee since it put shift key on the other side of the arrow keys, but once your used to it its done and easy.
But if you really add up the price of the XP license, 160gb laptop drive, etc its a bargin.

Not at all, as of right now its all I use, and ive got a Core 2 Duo 3.0ghz with 4gb of ram (PSU went out), im in no rush to fix it because I dont need it. The only thing I miss is a DVD-ROM.

I was worried about not having a DVD-ROM. I would have to carry around one with me.

If you have another computer its not really an issue, especially if you have experience with ISOs
